福克斯交易后续分析：国王与奇才的瓦兰丘纳斯交易评级解读

This trade is a continuation of the moves following Fox's transfer to the Spurs and Lavine joining the Kings as his replacement. The second-round picks from Denver sent to Washington were also obtained in this three-team deal. More importantly, by trading Huerter to Chicago, Sacramento was able to absorb Valanciunas' salary without worrying about luxury tax issues.

The Kings opted not to use their cap flexibility for Tre Jones’ contract (who was traded to Chicago in exchange for Fox), indicating that they prioritize strengthening their frontcourt over finding a traditional point guard replacement for Fox. With players like Lavine, Monk, DeRozan, and rookie Devin Carter on board, the Kings have enough ball handlers but lack size off the bench.

Valanciunas stands at 2.11 meters tall and weighs 120 kilograms—he certainly adds bulk under the basket. Previously, Sacramento primarily used Trey Lyles (standing at 2.06 meters) as Sabonis’s backup center; however he is more suited as a power forward himself.

This acquisition allows interim head coach Doug Christie greater versatility with lineups while enabling Lyles more time playing in his natural position.

I’m curious whether Coach Christie will consider having both Sabonis and Valanciunas play together on court—they’ve teamed up before during international competitions such as EuroBasket 2022 where they averaged combined stats of 28.7 points and 17.8 rebounds per game through knockout rounds.
